A Boy Called Sailboat is never less than likable, but a little more variance in its beats might have prevented it from settling into a well-worn groove of unrelenting whimsy.

A Boy Called Sailboat is an astonishingly assured debut narrative film, managing to be heartwarming but not overly cloying, visually striking without seeming like a formal exercise, thoughtful but probably not too complicated for kids to understand.

A whimsical bit of whimsy as a found item leads to significant changes in the lives of all who come across it. The fairy tale element increases the acceptance of the fantasy premise even if the underlying message is kinda watery. A nice family picture, for the whole family.

Surprisingly cute and well made. Good movie for the whole family. Sometimes the acting was a little wooden and you'd get stuck on it for just a moment, but overall the movie had a very pure and heartfelt vibe.

Amazing film! Cute. Like a Latin Napoleon dynamite. And Jake Busey is once again an entirely different character from the last! Brilliant! ï¿ 1/2~ï¿ 1/2~ï¿ 1/2'Â?ï¿ 1/2Â? 1/4
