There's some reasonably ambitious choreography to a lot of the physicality and camerawork, and until it devolves into testosterone-drenched, operatic silliness, the mix of bullets, blood and banter is dumb fun.

I was never surprised by anything that occurred in 24 Hours to Live but I was never bored as Ethan Hawke's weathered hero amasses a rather large and blood-soaked body count.

This is the dumpest movie I ever saw. Villains are stupid as hell, dialogues are shit as f**. Can't believe that Ethan Hawke gave name to this pile of crap.

Any script with the words 'You're one helluva..' anything, delivered with a straight face needs an overhaul. There is lots of similarly unconvincing dialogue beefed up with shouting, breathy, deep voices and the the word 'fuck' frequently shoe-horned in doesnt make it any less convincing. The action scenes are high octane but more often than not totally implausible. The scene in the taxi after the deposition scene is at times woeful. The support cast are awful, particularly the female lead. Hawke is reliable but he never quite made the 'A' list, did he? Stuff like this is why. It might just scrape an afternoon viewing before picking the kids up from school.

Overall, I am extremely disappointed by this film. What is set up to be some type of action film only delivers a film with poor story telling and unwise edits with a completely uninteresting plot. I feel Ethan Hawke is capable of much greater films than this and sadly this filmâ(TM)s end result lacks some serious Finesse. - Finesse Movie Reviews

I wouldn't bother ; the sub-par editing and preposterous special effects in the opening shootout is indicative enough. Ethan can achieve most of his remits, but he was poor in this. A romantic chat up man and assassin who is still mourning his dead wife and son ?! Xu Qing must be a bloody good hypnotist, coz' she ain't no actress.

Stereotyped mix between the saga of "Crank" and "In Time" by Andrew Niccol (2011). Hawke isn't believable in the role of the cursed hero of a shoot-em-up movie. (Mauro Lanari)
