Critics Consensus

Tense, nicely shot, and uncommonly intelligent, The Crazies is a horror remake that, unusually, works.

Mediocre acting and a tired plotline ruins what's left of the movie.

While it loses the charm of Romero's low-budget clunkiness, it is in all other regards superior.

The aesthetic upgrade from the original makes this the rare instance in which a reboot is just as good, if not better, than the source material.

It's not the most original film but Timothy Olyphant held this down as the lead. It's a harrowing story that has a dark ending, which hurts your desire to rewatch this but it's still solid.

While this does have many beats that are similar to films in this genre, the leads were strong and there was some haunting imagery that makes this an interesting watch. The opening baseball scene is really effective.

I give the edge to The Crazies 2010. It was slower pace but had better character and story development . I found the actual (Crazies) to be a lot more menacing in the remake . And the ending of the 2010 film packed a punch

A really unique idea, that's well executed. The military force in the movie makes decisions you'll see as evil but are actually understandable, and it's one of the only horror/thriller movies to actually make me tear up in a long time. Well worth a watch in my opinion

I haven't seen the original, but this is a pretty good remake that has action almost from start to finish.

The Crazies, is not a really great movie, with the title is totally not suited for the movie as is boring.

Not a good remake . It was lousy. Characters were not very likeable or emotionally moving. Plot was not unfolded well neither. Waste of time.
