While watching 'Ballet Shoes,' I felt like a time machine had transported me to London in the 1930s, then set me in the midst of this wonderful humanistic story. Go to Full Review

It's a caloric helping of melodrama, but it's rendered effective by the exceptional performances and observant direction by the vastly talented Sandra Goldbacher. Go to Full Review

Abraham L Aug 16, 2017 Ballet Shoes (2007), a British film made for television, is a perfectly cast and wholly charming rendition of Noel Streatfield's 1936 novel. The sisters' various quirks, strengths and flaws are captured wonderfully by the three actresses who portray them, as they learn the values of family and sacrifice. Both the positive and negative impact of success on each of the girls is handled deftly and neatly woven into the story - which flows seamlessly. Ballet Shoes' predictability can't be ignored however and certain key details are largely edited, which may upset fans of the original story. Well-shot and accompanied by a neat, non-intrusive score, the film effectively captures both the girls' innocent spirit and the spirit of the 1930s. While it doesn't include all key details from the book, Ballet Shoes manages to pack a fair amount into its short run-time. It's a very easy watch. Ballet Shoes (2007) flows with an effervescent charm and is more than worth a watch. It's enjoyable from start to finish. See more
Ron W Nov 24, 2014 Although it has a great cast (Emma Watson is the stand out here), I found Ballet Shoes boring at times.
