After one of his hostage negotiations goes awry, LAPD officer Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis) quits the force and relocates his family to the suburbs. As the sheriff in a sleepy town, Jeff thinks he has escaped the hustle and bustle -- until an elaborate local heist puts him back in the center of a hostage situation. Willis co-produced this movie, so we should take it as a sign of his desire to step back into these crime-fighter roles. But without a bigger infusion of originality, the effort is going to die hard. Go to Full Review

Poe R Mar 8, 2019 Exceptional performances from Willis, Bennett, Horn, Foster, and Tucker manage to lift this exciting, if cliched, thrill ride into positive territory, despite a severe breakdown in logic in the denouement. See more
Draco S Feb 3, 2019 This is a fun ride. It should have a 60 to 70 on the tomatometer.
Theodore M Dec 2, 2017 beastly movie. very exciting and suspenseful. well made. lots of beautiful shots and a great musical score. went in all the right directions. very entertaining (about 3 viewings) See more
Kylo M Nov 27, 2017 What can I think about Hostage since I am a really huge fan of Die Hard. Well, it's kind of the same thing and this time it's intense and over-the-top. The opening is where a man takes his wife and his son hostage after he finds out that his wife cheated on him so Chief Talley negotiates with him. Now Dennis, Kevin and Mars are taking the Smith family hostage. The hostage situations are clearly intense in the sense and that is to say that Die Hard is not intense. Kind of a cliche to be the same thing, don't you think? However I really enjoyed it not as much as I enjoyed Die Hard a lot more. It hasn't got a lot of action in it but it's more like an action drama in the way that they're being held hostage. I would let you guys watch it if you're interested that is if you can the fact that you may feel like they being held Hostage but it's only pretending. See more
Theodore W Sep 2, 2017 I thought Bruce Willis's acting was excellent. Sure it was melodramatic, that was expected. It was a good Cliffhanger. Bottom line? I wasn't here for Shakespeare. Good movie. See more
