In January 1942, as the United States enters World War II, a conference assembles near Berlin. SS Gen. Heydrich (Kenneth Branagh) and his associate, Lt. Eichmann (Stanley Tucci) call the meeting to discuss the "evacuation" of Germany's Jews and other undesirables, a code word for their extermination in concentration camps. The script of Conspiracy is flat and matter-of-fact, creviced by deep silences as middle management stare into the chasm that has opened at their feet. Go to Full Review

The result of a meeting is only as good as the parties present, their aims and their wills. Wannsee was not where the Holocaust's if became when but, rather, where when became how soon. Go to Full Review

... Loring Mandel has written a script that's scary in its understatement and Frank Pierson has directed a television movie that's even scarier because it might just as well have been a board meeting of investment bankers... Go to Full Review

Abraham S Apr 27, 2019 As a verbally indirect companion piece to the Holocaust period in film, the nature of the depicted discussion won't offer any suitability to the value besides just disgust to be limited as a worthy single viewing that is only pleasantly bolstered by good, committed performances being well-casted whilst following a solid script with a decent attempt to express a humanistic touch in the flow. Mar 31, 2019 Amazingly well done but now without some bullsh!t. Gerhard Klopfer was not a giant lard of fat as the producers chose to portray him. If you are going to make an historically accurate picture, why no stay try to the story line instead of turning it into a joke. Idiots. Kenneth Branagh, Stanley Tucci and Colin Firth are superb in this movie, I am a huge fan. Most likely, this will appeal to historians. Fascinating to watch a depiction of the Wannsee Conference. The casual manner of this "business meeting" shows you how truly depraved Nazi ideology is. A lesson for everyone. See more
Luke S Feb 22, 2019 In late January of 1942, in Wannsee near Berlin Nazi bureaucrats held a meeting which brought together 15 representatives of different branches of the German state, the army, the SS, the Nazi party and so on. The sole topic of the meeting was the "final solution to the Jewish question". The goal of the meeting was to achieve consensus on the methods and dynamics of the destruction of the European Jews. Wannsee conference was not about deciding whether the Holocaust should happen, since in January of 1942 the Holocaust was already in full swing - from deaths of thousands in the Jewish ghettos and concentration camps to mass executions and killing by gas. Main aim of the SS in organizing this meeting was to obtain an unconditional consent and full cooperation of all the other branches of the German state in the plan which was prepared in advance and worked out by the SS. The central theme of the movie Conspiracy is precisely this meeting, from its beginning to the end, organized and dominated by prominent SS officers, General Reinhard Heydrich and Colonel Adolf Eichmann. The film script and directing heavily relies on the minutes of the Wannsee conference and other documentary material. Even the dialogues are reconstructed based on the court records from the trial of Eichmann in 1961 in Jerusalem. You have probably seen a movie about Nazi concentration camps or saw documentary footage showing dehumanized, tortured camp inmates clinging on edge of life and death or thousands of naked skinny bodies being bulldozed into mass graves. If you've ever wondered who were the brutes who organized this and how they could come up with something like that, this movie will give you a pretty good idea how to answer these questions. Usually, we instinctively look for good and bad figures in movies, some which we can support and with whom we empathize, and those others we reject or condemn, but in Conspiracy there is no such a thing. Here, all are monsters. Indeed, in this movie there are no good guys and bad guys, they are all part of the same criminal system - they just have different perspectives and different priorities. Please note the coldness, professionalism and simplicity of the meeting where the decision with such consequences was made. It is of the atmosphere of corporate and government meetings where such decisions are made, where even today decisions are being made that will have tragic consequences for the lives of millions. Luke R Oct 6, 2018 This is a truely chilling film. For a film that basically takes place on a couple of rooms I was gripped. If the events are even slightly acurrate (I believe that they mainly are) then this film really demonstrates the sickening minds of some of the most villified people in history. This is definitely worth watching + more than once. See more
See more
Sep 5, 2018 A look into one of the darkest deeds in history and hit home by an all star cast of prolific actors in which seems more like a corporate board meeting attended by lawyers and academics discussing the problems of an annoying waste disposal issue , this is not one to miss its gripping and surreal when you realise it has been taken from the actual minutes of the original conference.
