A newspaper reporter, Jennifer Paige (Janet Leigh), is investigating the Pittsburgh Pirates' losing streak. The team is led by manager Guffy McGovern (Paul Douglas), whose swearing and fighting hinder his team's progress. Clarence Brown has carved a tremendously satisfying filmization from a script that, from every evidence, could have gone completely haywire if handled clumsily, dealing as it does with fantasy. Go to Full Review

Jan 26, 2019 The best inspiring sports movie ever made!
Theodore S Dec 28, 2018 Pleasant baseball pix, especially if you are a pirates fan.

Poe R Feb 22, 2010 A sweet baseball fantasy that should be considered a classic. I enjoyed seeing the footage of what the ballpark environment was like in the fifties. There are also some neat cameos that make this a treat for baseball folk. (First and only viewing - 7/3/2010) See more
