Well-mounted and very traditional, Of Mice and Men honorably serves John Steinbeck's classic story of two Depression-era drifters without bringing anything new to it. Go to Full Review

Rey S Feb 2, 2019 This film doesn't stick to its source material and skips out some vital scenes from the book. Although John Malkovich's performance is extraordinary. See more

Leia R Dec 11, 2018 This film was surprisingly accurate for the time set I would most definitely recommend it for 14+. I would say the audio and quality is pretty bad but this was made twenty years ago and also the quality really does set an atmosphere for the movie, like how they show world war one and two in black and white. The movie beginning was extremely good because it left the audience confused and puzzled about what happened on that job. And the only clue we got was the woman crying and screaming for help in ripped clothes, while the main characters ran away from the situation. In the scene, before getting into the rest of the film, I could've of theorized a thousand theories. When we found out what really happened we were all surprised and it gave a big view of what Lennie is really like. Also, it shows how much George cares about Lennie when he still sticks with him. When the character tell us what they want to do or what is considered as their American dream at the time, I got a real sense of hope and adventure. Since we saw the injured men and the discrimination in the raunch. When they talk about the American dream I saw the poor dirty workers get very happy just from thinking about hope and accomplishment. Another great scene was when Lennie and Curly fought each other and Lennie beat him but through the fight, I felt bad for Lennie because he didn't want to hurt anybody but when he defended himself I felt happy until Lennie tried harder and harder, at this point we realized how strong Lennie really almost feels unhuman. Grade: A+ See more
Kylo R Dec 10, 2018 The beloved book by John Steinbeck finally gets another adaptation to the big screen since 1939. After reading the book, I viewed the film and I was extremely disappointed. This isn't faithful at all too the book. My favourite section in the book is when Lennie, Candy and Curley's Wife are in Crooks room and they cut that scene out of the film which ultimately ruined the entire film for me. Not only that but John Malkovich was way over the top as Lennie and Curely's Wife backstory scene was rushed alongside her death and Lennie death. All the emotion was wiped out of the film, especially on the death segments, and it left this film feeling hollow and emotionless. However most of the performances are good and the set design is extraordinary. See more
