What to Know

Critics Consensus

A darkly ironic blast of comic book sci-fi, RoboCop fuses scabrous political satire with dazzling action and outrageous gore, rising above its bone-crunching premise through sharp humor, sleek visuals, and an unexpectedly mythical edge.

George R Apr 21, 2019 Robocop is a thrilling and highly entertaining sci-fi film that still holds up pretty well today. The special effects are very good in this film except for a few choppy AD-209 shots and when Dick Jones falls out of the skyscraper, the models arms are longer than the body. Also the animal noises that the AD-209 makes feel tacky but do add comedic relief to the film. The film has really well thought out characters heroes and villains alike. It has a excellent protagonist in Murphy along with a strong female protagonist in Lewis. It also has excellent antagonists such as Boddicker and Dick Jones. The characters are also very well devoted. The film also does a good job by showing action that will not disappoint and it also mixes in some dark comedy and satire. The film can also get emotional and make audiences empathize with the main character and it also has a very satisfying payoff and ending won't disappoint audiences. The film also has some very quotable moments that will stick with audiences. The movie is faced paced and moves along quickly but this is a good thing because scenes don't seem to drag on, the entire film is just fun to watch and you won't want to miss a moment of its brutal action. Finn S Mar 23, 2019 This is a classic action movie from the 1980s. It does have a villain with thin reasoning and a lot of gore, but its still awesome. The action is great and edgy, the story is solid and clever, and Verhoven's direction is spot on alongside the performances. Its just an awesome action movie that managed to succeed on a high note. Hermione W Mar 20, 2019 I really enjoyed this. Pure 1980's as it's so silly but better than the remake.
Draco S Mar 11, 2019 One of the greatest movies of all time. The dialog, story and characters are the greatest. Some of the best one liners of all time. See more
Abraham P Mar 9, 2019 Dead or alive you're coming with me.
Draco R Feb 27, 2019 This probably my top movie of all time. Every time I watch this film I still find new depths and details which flesh out the Robocop world or further the satire. I feel like not a scene or line is wasted in this film it is excellent. When I was younger I loved the main character but I think this films greatest strength is the villain ensemble. Brilliant. Love this film. See more
