This plot is so simple that perhaps the most amazing achievement of Raw Deal is its ability to screw it up. This movie didn't just happen to be a mess; the filmmakers had to work to make it so confusing. Go to Full Review

... Despite the incongruity of Arnie [Schwarzenegger] attempting to fit in with the mob by slicking back his hair and wearing tailored suits, he actually makes Raw Deal watchable. Go to Full Review

Having said that, if you’re after a slice of throwaway ‘80s crime hoodoo, then you could do worse than Raw Deal. Go to Full Review

The action scenes are frequent and frivolous, though none stand out as highlights of Schwarzenegger's oeuvre. Go to Full Review

Anakin S Mar 7, 2019 I think this movie is very underrated and very fun to watch. Arnold Schwarzenegger is great in this movie. The action is so awesome. I really hope more people see this movie and the ratings get way higher. Can't believe so many people hate this movie. I think it's great. It's definitely a lot better than some of Arnold's other movies. See more
George G Jan 17, 2019 A movie that I probably should have seen by now, although I haven't really sought out Arnie in most things. Raw Deal is a fun and over the top action film from the mid-eighties. It might not be great, or good really, but man is it entertaining. The plot of this film revolves around ex-FBI or super cop Arnie, who is now a small town sheriff after using excessive force on a ne'er do weller. His job is boring, his wife is mad, and he just wants to catch a break. So, when his old boss offers him an undercover job to fight the mafia, it takes our hero only seconds to pretend to have been killed by blowing up his squad car inside an oil refinery, which also explodes. That's a bit excessive but hey, there's lots of oil right? After all that Arnie ingratiates himself into the mafia by causing carnage against their rivals and just generally being a nuisance and making fun quips. All of this combined with the actual cops trying to find out who he is, his boss wanting revenge after the mafia kills his kid, and just a whole ton of property damage, makes Raw Deal a pointless, choppy, yet beyond fun action film to watch. Explosions, stupid quips that are pretty funny, car chases, bullets flying everywhere, and bad acting by a lead are the hallmarks of a good "bad" action movie. Not taking itself seriously helps, although the very end with helping his boss walk again using his sheer will and thick accent is hilarious in its ridiculousness. I recommend this as an action night starter to get everyone in the mood for plotless explosion filled awesome. If empty-headed punch em ups aren't your thing though, you can easily skip this one. Harry S Nov 18, 2018 Mid 80s dumb action film with Arnie in wooden form.
Abraham R Jan 8, 2018 Another forgettable action film. Arnie makes it at least watchable but this is another film he was contractually obliged to make. After the success of The Terminator the makers of this film tried to cash in on its star. This film is pretty bland other than Arnie and is one of his worst movies. See more
Hagrid S Nov 21, 2017 This movie is so hackneyed it has some charm. It is a fairly uneven rampage movie which is a sentence I've been waiting to write all of my life. We reviewed this movie in our podcast mainly because of its connection to Wilmington, NC, which is used as the rural setting Arnold is exiled in before he gets called back to the big leagues.
