Weary of socializing in Europe, she returns to her London flat, where her sister Margaret (Phyllis Calvert) and diplomat brother-in-law Alfred (Cecil Parker) invite her to a banquet. Critics Consensus

Indiscreet spins rom-com gold out of a premise just sturdy enough to set the stage for typically delightful work from its wonderfully well-matched leads.

We are never unsure about how Indiscreet will end, but the way it gets there -- lightly, cleverly, at a pace and with a rhythm that is closer to a foxtrot than a sprint -- makes the exercise worthwhile.

"Indiscreet" is short on plot but more than makes up for it in style.

A fine light comedy, with unexpected passages of seriousness, marked by the Donen touch in its adventurous visuals and vivacious performances.

Kind Sir- builds a warm work that thanks to a precise, methodical arrangement of framing, planning and narrative cadence, breaks its theatrical structure to offer itself eminently cinematographic. [Full Review in Spanish]

More's to the point, however, Indiscreet simply proves yet again that great acting, crackling writing and deft direction never go out of style.

The best romance movie ever made!

Ron L

Sep 13, 2017

(I'll try to choose my words as not to spoil anything in case you haven't seen the movie yet.) This movie went on very effortlessly. There were a few clever shots (for example the bed scene) to go around the contemporary censorship rules. There were some relatively tasty scenes like when she learns the truth and gets angry. But unfortunately the movie felt very impersonal and like nobody was really that happy to even make the movie. Everybody did a steady job, but it felt like they were not personally invested in the movie and they just did their work and went home after a day of filming. There was no chemistry between the main couple. I'm not sure they even got along in real life based on what I saw on the screen. The dance scene was very awkward. All in all, this was not a very memorable movie. The only people who stood out were the two housekeepers and the sister. Other than that, it was all just so very bland. Such a shame. What a waste of good actors. :(
