If one ignores the pompous script and its allegorical pretensions, Convoy is not bad entertainment. The stunt-work is excellent and the action sequences excitingly staged. Go to Full Review

It’s a happy-go-lucky ode to the truckers on the roads, a sunny, enjoyable picture. Go to Full Review

A road movie of the yee-haw variety, it makes the more enjoyable Smokey and the Bandit look positively Shakespearean in comparison and almost allows the dim-witted The Cannonball Run to appear as masterful as The Grapes of Wrath. Go to Full Review

Serving as a slice of populist, activist and absurdist cinema, "Convoy" hits like Hamm’s on a hot day — not much more than water and barley, alcoholically speaking, but fit to make you fuzzy and fine if consumed in good quantities. Go to Full Review

Convoy is Vanishing Point with trucks, a nihilistic journey into the world of American individualism with a jaunty soundtrack. It’s a bad film, but it’s also an addictively watchable one… Go to Full Review

Rey W Dec 21, 2018 The original all American trucking film, and itâ(TM)s also good if you want to see a town destroyed by trucks.
Poe S Sep 6, 2018 I love this crazy movie of trinkets and their convoy
Ron G Apr 7, 2018 It doesn't have the grit of other Sam Peckinpah films and was clearly meant to be a box office hit for the director who desperately needed one (Which it was), but I still loved Convoy. Not to mention, it was built entirely around the C.W. McCall song of the same name (Which is a pretty catchy country song, I must admit). Despite its clear aspirations to mainly be a box office hit above all else, Convoy still manages to slip in sly political messages the sleazy nature of politicians exploiting voters, abuse of authority, and the working man vs. "The Man" as was such a common antagonist of the 1970's. Convoy is a funny, thrilling adventure film with intriguing political commentary and romance elements thrown in for good measure. Plus, with such leads as Kris Kristofferson, Ali MacGraw, and Ernest Borgnine, you'd be hard-pressed to go wrong for entertainment. It's a blast from beginning to end, and achieves its purpose of popcorn entertainment, albeit a slyly brainier one. See more
Han L Jul 28, 2017 Convoy is a boring film. It is about truckers who form a mile long "convoy" in support of a trucker's vendetta with an abusive sheriff. Kris Kristofferson and Ali McGraw give horrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. Sam Peckinpah did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rey G Apr 16, 2017 Woah. Okay, I know this movie is supposed to be terrible, apparently. Claim whatever you want about it, but I had a blast with this. Maybe I'm just a sucker for these truckin movies... See more
Theodore L Mar 10, 2017 Three truckers are setting off across country when they are harassed by a local Sheriff. The Sheriff is happy to use his power to extort money from anyone who he runs into, and he has a particular dislike for truckers. He and one of the truckers, "Rubber Duck", have a long-standing feud. This boils over when the truckers refuse to give in to one of his extortion attempts and get into a fight with the Sheriff and the local police. This results in a cross-state, even inter-state chase, and grows in magnitude as more and more trucks join the rebels, forming a convoy. Pretty weak movie. Generally just one long car/truck chase scene, with little escapades along the way. Had some potential to make a statement about freedom and taking a stand against fascism (maybe a Vanishing Point with trucks) but hardly touches either subject. Instead it's one of those mindless elongated cross country car chase movies. Most perplexing of all, this is directed by Sam Peckinpah, the man who gave us The Wild Bunch, Cross of Iron, Straw Dogs and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. His movies usually have solid plots, good themes and are quite gritty and violent. This has none of those traits. Why he chose to direct this, I don't know. He must have needed the money. See more
