While recovering in a hospital, war hero Jefferson Jones (Dennis Morgan) grows familiar with the Diary of a Housewife column written by Elizabeth Lane (Barbara Stanwyck). Jeff's nurse arranges with Elizabeth's publisher, Alexander Yardley (Sydney Greenstreet), for Jeff to spend the holiday at Elizabeth's bucolic Connecticut farm with her husband and child. Played strictly for laughs, belly type, it's an audience winner from way back in the balcony. What can you lose? Go to Full Review

It's nothing that's going to change your life or anything but if you want a pleasant and romantic comedy that has some good laughs and some good chemistry it's a... really entertaining little Christmas movie. Go to Full Review

If this mildly amusing screwball comedy about mistaken identity has a conservative slant of glorifying housewives it's due to the zeitgeist: It was made in 1945, at the end of WWII, when men were coming home and women sent back to the kitchen. Go to Full Review

Jan 27, 2019 The best comedy movie ever made!
Albus R Jan 17, 2019 A wonderful holiday classic! Stanwyck is hilarious. Great actors throughout, and indelible situations. It wouldn't be Christmas without it. Absolutely recommend watching it with boxxy software app. See more
Abraham L Jan 6, 2019 Reviewed 12.23.18 A meddling affair that would have run completely off the rails, if not for the substantial acting chops of Barbara Stanwyck. It's sprinkled with occasional laughs but is mostly 1940's cookie-cutter schmaltz. It lacks the charm, song and dance of superior mid-century Xmas movies, like Holiday Inn. That said, it contains the old school seasonal vibe of the time period, if that's your thing. For classic holiday movie or Stanwyck completists only. See more
Hagrid M Dec 22, 2018 War hero Dennis Morgan becomes the object of a publicity stunt staged by magazine publisher Sidney Greenstreet. The corpulent print mogul announces that Morgan has won a Christmas dinner, to be prepared by the magazine's housekeeping expert Barbara Stanwyck in her own Connecticut home. The catch: Not only does Stanwyck not have a home in Connecticut, but she's never been in a kitchen in her life! She also doesn't have a husband (as her articles claim), so Stanwyck's erstwhile beau Reginald Gardiner is pressed into service as the hubby. As for the cooking, that will be handled by master chef S. Z. "Cuddles" Sakall. This solves everything, right? No way, Jose. Long dismissed as a lesser film farce, Christmas in Connecticut has its own irresistible charm, and has in recent years become a perennial Christmas TV attraction. See more
Poe L Dec 27, 2017 Besides being set during christmas in connecticut, there is nothing christmassy about this stupid movie.
Draco W Dec 27, 2017 Preposterous plot of a housekeeping magazine columnist who is the ideal wife but in reality is Stanwyck leading the single life in Manhattan. She and her besotted suitor - Gardiner - have to then pull off the perfect life on his Connecticut farm for the magazine's owner - Greenstreet - and a war hero - Morgan - over Christmas. Every plot turn is totally predictable yet you can't help enjoying every moment. See more
