Critics Consensus

Made from classic noir ingredients and flavored with a heaping helping of steamy modern spice, Body Heat more than lives up to its evocative title.

Body Heat is a remarkable example of pouring new wine in old bottles, not so much reinventing the noir genre as paving the way for the aesthetic excesses of the 1980s and ’90s.

There's no mistaking the fact that Kasdan loves the tawdry genre he's working in.

Still regarded as one of the steamiest movie's of all time, Body Heat is a fantastic exponenet of how noir has developed.

'Body Heat' remains the very model of the modern neo-noir erotic thriller: sexy, sultry, brilliantly plotted, perfectly played, and endlessly repeatable.

It is very difficult to see this as a love story when Walker and Racine are only sexually attracted to one another. Despite the fact that they frequently claim to love one another, we get a lot of evidence to the contrary.

An 80's alpha meets the classic femme fatale, and by the end it's hard to tell who is the protagonist of this story

The movie that made me fall in love with William Hurt. Some of the best dialogue of all time. Kasdan is great. A MUST-SEE. Favorite quote: "Anytime you're gonna' commit a decent crime there are 50 ways you can f*ck up. If you're a genius you'll think of 25 of those ways and you ain't no genius."

I think this really nails the film noir atmosphere and updates it to the 80s with a great story about a femme fatale, insurance, and a great big dupe.

Sexiest scene I have ever seen on film. The were both fully clothed and not even in the same building. Pacing made it even sexier during the first half.
