Sidney Lumet's solid success is achieved without even once resorting to flashbacks or other standard procedures of the film trade. The secret rests in spirited dialogue, realistic setting and, of course, the excellent cast of outstanding character actors. Go to Full Review

This movie is a masterpiece. That term gets thrown around a lot -- it's a very easy thing to say about great films like this -- but this movie is one of the best. This is one of the very few films that I will call perfect. Go to Full Review

Too few films take on the art of arguing as a subject; we could certainly use more of them, but until then, Lumet's window into strained civic duty will continue to serve mightily. Go to Full Review

The 1957 courtroom drama (based on an acclaimed 1954 teleplay) celebrates reasoned dissent, open debate, and the power of a single voice challenging consensus, principles Bhattacharya values deeply, especially in science. Go to Full Review

Hagrid S Apr 5, 2019 Even though "12 Angry Men" was filmed in the 1950s, the negotiation techniques deployed by the protagonist still remains relevant in today's context. In "12 Angry Men", twelve jurors are tasked with deciding whether or not an 18-year-old boy is guilty of stabbing his father to death based on the prosecutor's interrogation and the defendant lawyer's findings. If found guilty, the boy shall be sentenced to death. However, as the jury begins their discussion, we see that some of the jurors simply want to get the process over and done with. All of them except juror No. 8, the protagonist in the movie, hence vote the boy as guilty of charge from the get-go without reasoning the case. Juror No. 8 is the only one who finds that "it is not easy to⦠send a boy to die without talking about it first" and tries to engage the men in a discussion. As the negotiations progress, one by one the jurors start to realise that there is no definitive evidence to rule that the boy is guilty and they start finding reasonable doubt in whether the boy actually did kill his father. The movie uses an engaging and easy to follow narrative to depict skills in negotiation and is definitely a worthy watch. See more
Harry S Mar 30, 2019 A brilliant piece of work that unveils how 12 individuals' varied interest play out through deliberation. Interesting story line that revolves around reaching an agreement for the subject at hand. Each character is well developed and the dramatic dialogue leaves the audience captivated. See more
Mar 28, 2019 Very well written script. The film explores the art of negotiation - how people are occupied by different interests and thus push their positions to the table. It is thrilling to watch the unraveling of each character and how they attempt to convince one another even when there was little personal benefit with the verdict. Personal humanity and stereotypes often come up as important negotiation chess pieces but do take note of how Juror 8 manages to overcome the odds that are stacked against him. See more
George S Mar 26, 2019 Is a fairly average film that has not aged well. Would have much preferred a title such as "12 Naked Men". Maybe a return to the drawing board is in order See more
Abraham L Mar 17, 2019 Absolutely breathtaking. Never has a task as simple as being in a jury been so intense before. Accompanying the film's superb atmosphere; was the phenomenal directing the Lumet, the great performances from its cast, and the rich character development it has to offer. It deserves to be considered a classic. See more
Theodore R Mar 13, 2019 The Greatest Courtroom Drama Film (Besides "Anatomy of A Murder") ever made, in Sidney Lumet's debut. Henry Fonda delivers one of his greatest performances in this tense and gripping film. See more
