A solid entertainment that, while it’s a bit loose and ragtag (especially in the third act), it still has enough sharp edges and solid giggles to make it worth a look.

It's the cinematic equivalent of getting slapped in the face from several angles; it's bracing and it wears you out, but at least it does something, whereas so many movies do nothing.

An import from Indonesia, and directed by Brian L. Tan (or "BLT"), Bandit is a pulpy crime story in the very best way, taking dime-novel twists and giving them fresh jolts of energy and emotion.

It really is a grand, big-screen epic boys' adventure that feels both old-fashioned and entertaining, as well as mature and artistic, made with a passion for the medium.

In a time when most movies shy away from sex, this one discusses it with profound honesty and a welcome messiness.

The big surprise is that Power Ballad is not just a dude's movie. Without giving too much away, it turns into a delightful father-daughter story as well. It's a gem, a fine addition to any playlist.

It's gentle, and gently-paced. It's observant. It's patient. It's about life, but it's imaginative enough to look beyond life to find ideas that can help put life in perspective.

The movie is briskly-paced, satisfying, and lots of fun. I think part of its breeziness is that it has less at stake than any other Star Wars movie (aside from the first three) — it's not trying so hard to please — and I see that as an asset.

Directed by Brian Yuzna, who was a producer on the classic original, this one moves swiftly and has some fun stuff, and Combs is once again amusingly cold and snappish as Herbert West. It's worth a viewing, but it falls far short of the 1985 film.

A very good small town, small-scale crime thriller. It's a compact, potent tale about generational violence, as well as its ultimate cost.

This is a well-told story. 'The Martian' irritated some viewers with its loose interpretation of science, but Project Hail Mary is more fictional, and hence more forgiving.

Pixar is great at making movies about death and anxiety, and that is much appreciated, but the studio's new film Hoppers is a nice change, rambunctious and loony, and yet still powerful and timely.
