A decent adaptation of Nathan Ballingrud's story, Wounds flails about in underwhelming imagery and winds up being a bit of a bore. Johnson and Beetz are wasted, though kudos on the use of (some) practical cockroaches

Well made, but incredibly difficult to watch. Lawrence throws herself (sometimes physically) into the role and has affecting moments with both Spacek and Nolte. It's just a challenging film to recommend due to the subject matter.

This one had potential - from the gentle queer coding to the found footage angle to the practical FX - but Gary J. Tunnifcliffe's script (and some truly terrible adult actors) never manage to overcome the low budget and speedy production.

File Under: This could never be made today. An underrage Drew Barrymore seduces Tom Skeritt while ruining Sara Gilbert's life in Katt Shea's alternately bold and boring Erotic Thriller. Drew is great, though

A loosely structured doc that puts Lynch, his art, and his art practice front and center. It's not revelatory, which may frustrate casual fans or newcomers, but for fans, it's a good complement to his early films

Caitlin Cronenberg's debut has promise, but winds up lacking in execution. The intriguing premise is letdown by defanged satire and an early death is a grievous error. There's just not quite enough here

Doug Campbell's ludicrous film is highly entertaining, thanks mostly to Eric Roberts' scenery-chewing (and perfectly on point) performance. It's no wonder this became a franchise.

From misguided accusations of torture porn to a bizarre 'twist' ending, this film is *interesting*. Still, the performances from Vincent D'Onofrio and Eamon Farren are outstanding, and the premise has plenty of promise.

It's unclear how Hisss might have turned out if Lynch hadn't been locked out, but the finished product is a mess. While the practical snake effects look great and Mallika Sherawat is captivating, most of this is ponderous and dull

Lynch's 2nd film is a twisty crime thriller filled with unconventional casting decisions, bold colour-coded cinematography, and brief (but visceral) outbursts of violence. A great indicator of what Lynch is capable of when her vision isn't compromised

A tense (and scarily topical) look at the depravity of the Internet. The film thankfully subverts the inclination to become a female 8MM, instead focusing on the devastating mental impact of content moderation. Reinhart is excellent in an understated perf

More sleepy than sensational, Jennifer Lynch's feature directorial debut was unfairly decried as misogynistic torture porn, which is bizarre considering it's so obviously framed as a sick fantasy from the POV of its disturbed male protagonist

Great practical FX give way to a never ending deluge of hallucinatory nightmares that lose all impact as the film progresses. It's hard not to blame Inferno for establishing the bland narrative/character template for the sequels to come

This intimate, meta tale features two great female leads (Elisabeth Moss and Odessa Young) and makes literal an ambiguous lesbian attraction. Bonus points for making the audience question if Young's character is even real. A very solid film

Halfway successful. The first half of the film is much better than the messy back half, but Henry Cavill has great screen presence in an early role. The twist still doesn't make a lick of sense, though.
