There are many reasons to see the movie, starting with Ethan Hawke’s presence as an actor in love with playing a character compelled to reunite his broken family. New director Padraic McKinley knows what will engage an audience. His debut is a success.

Director Susanne Brier didn’t seem to know how to approach the material and where to go with it. A strong understanding of whimsical fantasy was missing. Sequels are tough cinematic nuts to crack. The supernatural realm is clearly not Bier’s forte.

"Coyote vs. Acme" packs a lot of fun in its 103 minutes. Will Forte is the perfect actor for this style of movie. If you’ve been looking for, or need, some laughs that are deliciously silly, "Coyote vs. Acme" is the movie to see.

"A Talent for Murder" has acting from Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich that is Academy Award caliber. Films like this are often ignored at Oscar time. This one shouldn’t be. Mystery lovers will have a field day. So should awards voters.

To its credit, "The End of Oak Street" is not an event film. It’s entertainment pure and simple. Imaginative and wonderfully well-made, it’s a little bit bonkers. That’s what I liked about it, and why it’s so much fun to experience.

Nobody needs anything from what this coming-of-age tale tells us. Certainly not Bourdain’s legacy. Thank goodness episodes of his different shows are available to watch. That’s the best way to get out of the wallow of what you’ve just seen.

With its financial skullduggery, action sequences, and beautiful scenery, "In The Grey" is one of those films that some people will probably have fun watching at home on a rainy afternoon. It’s not a satisfying popcorn movie, but have some popcorn anyway.

Spielberg clearly wanted to return to the question of alien life on Earth. He has set up a mystery: Should humanity know certain things about the scope of its universe? And he has done it with classic Hollywood studio power and production values.

This is a movie about time and space, as well as imagination and memory. Director Parsons has created a world that is both alluring and frightening. "Backrooms" is not only an impressive movie, but it also heralds a remarkable talent.

It is not hyperbole to state that "Citizen Kane" has earned the right to be considered as great as any individual wants it to be. If "greatest" is too much, then how about most respected? It might be the most influential motion picture in history.

The sparkling cinematography is a superb high point. Less good is the pacing. Repetition sets in, and some scenes run on too long. The acting is all over the place. "The Odyssey" is a good adventure yarn, but it isn’t quite a movie for the ages.

Not much of the movie feels fresh. Anyone attending this 145-minute exercise in a stroll down memory lane needs to have some foundational knowledge about the MCU.

The exceptional film is not merely about the family you discover after you leave home. It is also about the family you left behind. Life has a way of connecting them to each other. The extraordinary "Five Easy Pieces" shows us why this is important.

Considering the struggle to get motion pictures produced, it actually seems like a miracle that the whimsical and clever "The Sheep Detectives" was made. Pure fun at the movies? What an amazing concept.

Twenty years later, we are back with "The Devil Wears Prada 2," with an ever-changing world of journalism in which digital dominance and clickbait essentials rule the roost. I think a better title would have been "The Devil Still Wears Prada."

As expected, the beautiful Tuscan region is wonderful. The acting in the film is superb, from the major players to the character oddities that pop up. Bailey and Page are outstanding. "You, Me & Tuscany" is a pleasure because it has romance at its heart.

Across the board, the film’s acting is as good as you want it to be. "The Drama" goes against what a romance movie should deliver. I give Borgli immense credit for being unafraid to take risks. As well as for daring to deliver something different.

Gosling is the audience’s representative on the screen and they’ll follow him anywhere, not because they have to, but because the actor has an everyman persona to which moviegoers will gravitate. His character is smart and likable.

"The Bride!" is a bit deranged, all over the place creatively, and utterly wacky. It’s also very well-made from a production standpoint. I have to give Gyllenhaal credit for daring to be different. "The Bride!" has midnight movie written all over it.

Josh O’Connor’s performance is exceptional and the production values are outstanding in "The Mastermind," a very good art heist movie. The mechanics of the planning and actual theft are delivered with an accomplished, albeit cleverly distanced, style.
