Léa Drucker sparkles in this police procedural whose real-world context lends the drama urgency without overwhelming its measured, investigative focus.

Despite the fictional black agent, it's well made, powerfully acted...Its power comes less from strict factual certainty than from the unsettling truth that, in this episode of American history, justice and lawlessness were sometimes disturbingly close.

This is Hawke’s movie, and he makes the best of it. This is the kind of action-adventure that Hollywood used to make but rarely does anymore. This one rates right up there with the best.

Full of anecdotes told by Twiggy and others, if I could rate this an 11, I would. It is that good.

Slick, amusing, and agreeably crooked with outstanding acting by all, especially Crowe. It is the kind of movie that understands precisely what it is and has the good sense not to apologize for it.

a near-perfect specimen of the 21st-century screen comedy that mistakes a premise for a screenplay and noise for wit.

What might have been a frightening anatomy of modern authoritarianism instead, enervated by Bano's bland performance, becomes a handsome, airless ordeal.

If this isn’t the best biopic I’ve seen, it’s right up there with the best, highlighted by an Oscar(r)-quality performance by Toby Jones and an equally effective job by Harry Lawtey. It's long but well-directed and not too long.

This is a good movie to watch because it shows how zealots can take charge of politics and make life miserable for ordinary people who just want to get where they are going, even though that is certainly not the filmmakers' intent.

With an overly long runtime of two hours, it failed to hold my interest despite its good intentions and moral, but it should appeal to a religious-oriented audience.

Ballyhooed as a dark comedy with Hitchcockian overtones, I saw nothing humorous. Nor did I detect even a hint of Hitchcock. Foster gives a good performance. But I found the film slow and uninvolving.

a well-acted, well-directed tale with a twist. The cinematography and locations are gorgeous, worthy of a travelogue. While James and Grimaudo both give outstanding, believable performances, Hannigan, in a small role, is particularly effective.

Filled with mounting tension and well-directed and acted, this is said to be "based on" the actual events. That’s probably because the dialogue has been invented, because the story is true.
