If you like this sort of serial procedural and that cranky father-son dynamic, the Netflix film The Whisper Man looks like a no-brainer. And yeah, it’s definitely in search of a brain.

While Angela Bettis can't beat Sissy Spacek's wrenching, Oscar-nominated performance as the wallflower turned telekinetic killer, she's a satisfactory substitute.

It’s all adapted and directed by painter Julian Schnabel, who can make movies both great (Before Night Falls; The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and mind-blowingly bad (this one).
