If you can get past that and the fact that there is no narrative need for more angsty monster apologia, you will find that Clayface is actually pretty good. Shout it from the hilltops: A film about a minor DC character is a bit better than just okay!

It seems palpably impossible that I could be satisfied by a satirist I do not know telling a story about a person I do not care about that everyone has told me is perfect.
I’m going to assume you know where this is going.

It’s not as bad as its Rotten Tomatoes score would lead you to believe but it’s also not something you’d recommend to someone you love or even like a decent amount.

[The Social Network] ended by pointing at Facebook and saying "Uh oh!" whereas the second film throws a fist in the air and seemingly declares the problem solved, fixed by facts and Americans’ love for them.

Primetime enters that echelon of cinema filled with fantastic films that should almost certainly only be watched once. This, of course, excludes the memeification of Bobby Pats.

In the same way that Backrooms felt like an intergenerational condemnation, this film feels like an honest attempt to reveal the terror that older folks are too casually dismissing in younger folks.

The new Resident Evil is the best video game movie of all time! I fear that what I have ranked as second may betray any confidence folks have in that proclamation. Fine. It’s the Bob Hoskins Super Mario Brothers movie. See.

Both figuratively and literally, if you need resolution in your life, Hope isn’t for you. The 160-minute movie ends on a cliffhanger, following gibberish dialogue spoken by aliens. As maddening as that is, I will also be first in line for the sequel.

Coyote vs. Acme isn’t some brilliant satirical takedown nor a madcap, hilarious romp. It’s just quietly kind and respectably funny, which is more than enough to justify its existence.

As much as it so obviously longed to be Spielbergian, the only connection that it will have to that dude’s filmography is that it is worse than Disclosure Day.

The film is tight, lean, and resists overselling and overexplaining its message. Its scattered imperfections are forgettable, forgivable, and dwarfed by the promise of the artists involved.

The action/comedy, genuine pathos, and delightful dynamics between Spider-Man and a random collection of heroes and villains (ninjas?!) add up to emulate the je ne sais quoi that has kept this sad sack goofball number one in my heart since I was a kid.

Motor City is bad. Things that could have helped: better music choices, savvier and more creative ways to avoid dialogue, and a playful or energetic tone that wasn’t basically "what if a flashback from 1994’s The Crow was set to Nights in White Satin."

It is mostly talking. Hooray! There is a literal ghost. Yippee! It carefully considers how we are haunted by not only our regrets but by the memory poltergeists of the friends no longer in our lives. Swell?
