Ruthlessly memorable. ... The singular drive of the film has a cumulative impact that is crushing, brought home by the last few scenes, which are fraught with emotion and a surprising amount of action.

Bolstered by cinematographer James Wong Howe ... Their work together creates a steady climate of increasing shadows and sustained tension through the moody lighting and the shades of grey that creep into even the sunniest terrain.

In a tidy 81 minutes, Samuel Fuller grabs attention from the very first scene ... Fuller knows how to tell a story, and how to stage it for maximum efficiency and dynamic effect.

Often breathless and usually reckless ... Epic in its scope, Wildwood is an ambitious adventure that is always enchanting.

I've not mentioned the plot because it hardly matters. ... The action is busy and the screen rarely stops buzzing with activity. ... An action vehicle that knows what it is doing and takes great pleasure in the full measure of its PG-13 rating.

It feels like someone smuggled in a pirated VHS copy of the movie, handed it to the projectionist along with a wad of cash, and said quietly "Let ‘er rip." ... A searing indictment of ‘reality’ TV that burns up a movie screen and leaves it in ashes.

Filled with all sorts of gags -- verbal, audio, and sight -- and many LOL moments, I love that there are no 'cheap' gags. Instead, the film combines childlike wonder with adult amusement in abundance, to the merriment of all.

From a certain point forward, By Any Means falls into fantasy territory ... Any hint of sympathy or empathy feels entirely misplaced, unbalancing the film to such an extent that it becomes difficult to watch, leaving a sour taste in the stomach.

Strictly as a comedy, admittedly, it's enjoyable for those who prefer their action to be bluntly humorous, extremely large-scale, and to employ as many stunt people and visual effects artists as possible. Yeah for employing hundreds of people!

The joke is on Warner Bros. Coyote vs Acme is the best comedy they’ve produced but never released. The film is filled with a fast and furious barrage of sly jokes and witty one-liners and classic sight gags and wacky physical comedy.

The narrative is far too familiar ... all the attempts to jazz it up for the big screen were ill-advised. As much as I enjoy post-apocalyptic films in general, The Dog Stars left me wishing it was better.

Feeling very much like an unholy melding of a 1950s dinosaur movie set in 1980s suburbia, The End of Oak Street is utterly ridiculous, even if it is a ton of dumb fun, if you’re in the right mood for it.
