Baron Cohen doesn’t fully silence critics, nor does he need to for the film to succeed. His comedy remains messy, cheap, and certainly not always defensible. Yet there’s real courage in confronting bigotry without dulling the punchline.

Clayface is a gamble that pays off, and a reminder that the best comic-book adaptations are often those that remember their original pulpy credentials.

Behemoth! isn’t flawless, and it’s never in a hurry, but it knows what it wants to be. Pascal, Wilde and Arnett liven it up, and the music holds it together.

Ink is stylish, gripping and elevated by a superb O’Connell. It leaves some questions about the tabloid legacy open, but it captures the characters, drive, and momentum behind it.

At its centre is a woman who is both likeable and a complete pain in the ass. That combination is what makes her feel like a real person rather than a monument, and it is why the film works so well.

It is not merely a story of forgiveness, nor does it imply that understanding someone’s flaws makes their actions acceptable. It acknowledges that love can coexist with anger.

Elsinore is a heartfelt tribute to an actor who kept doing what he loved when everything around him said to stop. It can be heavy-handed, but its sincerity is never in doubt.

t is difficult not to enjoy a film this committed to its own particular brand of nonsense. It knows exactly who its audience is, gives them plenty of twists, glamour, sex and melodrama, and delivers some excellent performances along the way.
