There’s a lot to enjoy with Wicker but, despite its charm, gags and a set of nicely judged performances, including a scene-stealing cameo from Richard E Grant, there’s less going on underneath.

Anna Biller's tribute to those luridly colourful Technicolor horror-fests from the likes of Hammer is pure nostalgia. And, coupled with the gloriously knowing, straight faced performances from the cast, The Face Of Horror could turn into a cult favourite.

Aside from the jarring effect of the film’s later stages, its familiarity and well-chosen cast, as well as Scott’s own skills, could make it an unexpected summer hit.

It’s faint praise, admittedly, but there have been worse Disney remakes. Whether there’s been one that’s quite so unnecessary is another matter.

Minions & Monsters will bring out the kid in you. The gleeful silliness and stupidity that are the Minions’ stock in trade are even stronger than when they first crashed onto cinema screens 16 years ago.

There’s more than enough here to keep fans of the franchise happy, as well as shedding the occasional tear. The laughter hasn’t gone away, nor has the emotional pull.

The film certainly scores as an entertaining space opera with enough big scale action to keep audiences engaged, but there’s not enough underneath to give that smile of satisfaction that goes with having seen a great film.

True, it’s an approach that runs out of steam, leaving us with an ending that’s a little too easy, but it also comes with a sense of relief that the rest of the film has given us more than enough to chew over afterwards.

The film’s traditional enough to turn its back on Planet Of The Apes performance capture and use a man in a monkey suit to portray Ben. And, despite the occasional moment when you can see through the guise, it’s a sound choice.

2025’s best rom-com is a fantasy to win the hearts of even those with an in-built resistance to the genre. Yet, despite its afterlife setting, Eternity keeps its feet firmly on the ground. It’s a neat trick.

There may be little that’s radically different about this latest version of what is probably the ultimate monster story, but when it’s realised on such a lavish and epic scale, it hardly matters.

Even [the actors'] considerable efforts can’t quite give the film the consistency and spark of originality it cries out for. Instead, it’s overly ambitious, constantly trying too hard and ultimately, leaves the audience cold.

A nicely presented but familiar “will-they-wont-they?” romance, one that agrees with When Harry Met Sally's theory about men and women’s inability to be friends. But now a test finds your soulmate, so old-fashioned chemistry is very much in second place,

Despite all its affectionate nods in the direction of the original, this incarnation of Snow White doesn’t live up to it but, compared to the likes of Peter Pan And Wendy (2023) and Pinocchio (2022), it’s something of an improvement.

It's not Eastwood at his best, but it's pretty darn close. The strong narrative, the unfussy, lean style and the classy line-up of actors with performances to match are all here, with a low-key approach that ramps up the tension but never the volume.
